A welcoming club
We are a friendly bowling club situated in the centre of Balerno on the outskirts of Edinburgh which encourages people of all ages to take up the popular sport.
The club was founded in 1885 and the green is open for play (weather permitting) from 11am daily from April to September. This year we open on Easter Sunday.
We have an extensive bar and function suite within the clubhouse and organise domestic competitions. Our teams play in various leagues around the Capital.

Easy access to the green
We open for the season omn Easter Sunday
Just pop down, pick up your bowls from the locker room and off you go, simple as that, or come along to our Monday and Saturday Hat Nights where your name is picked from a hat and you join a team for a friendly game.
If you wish, you can put your name forward to play in one of our domestic events or even play in the competitive league games.
Our bowlers feature on the podium in events organised by various bodies and some have won medals at the Commonwealth Games and in major events throughout the world.

We host functions and entertainment
Our extensive premises includes a busy upstairs bar which screens major sporting events and hosts pool and darts competitions.
The bar stocks keg and bottled beer along with a wide selection of wines and spirits.
Downstairs, our function suite has a capacity for 120 and entertainment nights are popular with members and guests. Our first major event is the appearance of vocal impressionist Gerry Anderson, one of the most popular acts on the club circuit.

Gerry back, after ten years
Tickets selling fast
Vocal impressionist, Gerry Anderson, last made an appearance at Balerno Bowling Club around ten years ago, and now he’s coming back, presenting a theatre show in a club venue.
The West of Scotland-based entertainer, who is currently working on a new show which goes into the Glasgow Concert Hall on November 15, called Homage to the Stars, will showcase his range of impressions.
Songs from Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, The Rat Pack and even Shirley Bassey will be aired during the performance and the tickets priced at £10 are now on sale only from Brian Buckner.
The date for your diary is Saturday, May 17, and tickets are selling fast for this not-to-be-missed show.
